My 2001 V70-T5 has an annoying idle problem only when the engine is hot. the idle will surge between 600-900rpm. Bloody annoying, specially on a car with a slushbox.
here's the info:
- the engine runs good, no CEL, but VIDA does point out that the VVT solenoid is faulty.
- when cold it idles rock solid at 900rpm.
- VVT solenoid is new .
- When i disconnect it while the cold engine is running it will mess up idle making it surge between 600-900rpm. When i re-connect it the idle is rock solid again. my conclusion: the VVT solenoid works.
- When i disconnect it while the hot engine is running there is no difference in idle, it stays messed up surging between 600-900rpm. When i re-connect it there is no difference.
- when i measure the (green/grey and red/yellow) signal lines :
cold running @idle: 14V.
hot running @idle: 0.62V Should it be 14V hot as well??? wiring issue? ECM issue?
- it does not matter if the engine is in D or N or P, it is definitely a hot engine issue.
- could this be caused by a mechanical VVT sprocket issue? cam belt jumped 1 tooth?
- could this be caused by the weight of the engine oil? (VVT is oilpressure actuated)
- when the surging happens i switch the engine off Then i restart and immediately after the restart the idle is OK again. Only to get messed up again after a few miles of driving
I am at my wits end... Anybody have any pointers?
