92 240. Issue with no crank no start. Traced it down to the ignition switch. Prior to that the buzzer (door open key in - Blue box) would not shut off. If you breath on the key just right sometimes it would shut off, but usually not. Once you cranked the car the buzzer just kept on buzzing. Door light switch is good, Dome light goes off/on as it should so its not that. I took the ignition switch out, cleaned it. Nothing looked burnt or corroded. Put it back in. The no crank no start seems to be better but the buzzer still goes non stop. Also, if you move the key just a fraction and i mean fraction out of the run position it car will shut off. Prior to it hitting the detent. Seems like a worn out switch to me but what say you folks ???

It seems to me you know the answer. The fact it is totally repeatable tells me you have a switch that needs to be replaced. Whatever you do, DO NOT buy one of the cheap ignition switches. They do not last.

The Volvo ones on my 850 (same as late model 240s from what I remember) only last about 1-2 years so I bought FCP and just warranty them

They just about doubled in price in the last 1-3 years also

The tilt column cars use a different switch. I doubt the 850 uses the same switch as a 240. I know for sure the 95 and newer 960 does not use the same switch.
