Just what the world needs, another V8 swapped Volvo!

looking good, its gonna be a sweet dd! electric downpipe cutout??
I did think about adding a cutout when I was ordering exhaust parts, but ultimately decided against it. I'll keep it quiet, comfortable, and unsuspecting for now. Plus, a stock V8 doesn't really sound that good uncorked imo. Maybe if I add a hawg-ass cam in the future... 🤔

Engine and engine parts are all finally painted:

Keeping it "redblock powered" with Rustoleum Gloss Industrial Red. As of typing this, the transmission would be put together, if it wasn't for a missing 1-2 synchro spring. Damn vendors. The clutch and flywheel have been acquired, transmission assembly is now the current hold up.

Got a f-body clutch reservoir and mounted it up. Clutch master cylinder has been in for a while:

Finally got the T56 assembled. Nice to have some bench space back. Kinda forgot it was even there:

The engine is free from it's stand, now balanced on some jack stands. Stock f-body flywheel and clutch installed, bellhousing on as well. Looking to get the engine in sometime this week, weather permitting:

Got the engine and transmission set in place this weekend. The engine hoist/transmission jack balancing act was only a little bit sketchy. Lot of back and forth between the floor and the hoist, as well as going around the car to get from left to right. Really should've rolled the car a little further back, but it worked out.

Feels good to the engine in place for what is hopefully a long time. Freeing up some space in the shop is also a plus. I don't want to get ahead of myself and say I've reached the "downhill stretch" of the swap, but it's a solid step forward. Now might be a good time to make that to-do list on a piece of cardboard.

Almost another month gone by, yikes. Here's how things are lookin:

Full accessory drive is on, including
- New balancer
- F body alternator w/ low mount bracket
- F body power steering pump w/ Volvo control valve
- LS3 Camaro water pump and tensioner
- Crusty A/C compressor, most likely getting replaced

That's about it for the big exciting stuff. Been working on a little bit of plumbing, vacuum lines, etc. Power steering pressure hose has been ordered, expect more details on that when I get it installed. Got the Volvo engine harness thinned down to the essentials, parts of the harness than go through the firewall are staying for now. Reused the 4awg positive leads from the 5.3 to make some grounds. They're a little short and poorly routed, but they'll do for now. Should have just enough left to make the positive runs to the starter and alternator.

Have you test fit the engine with the cheapy cast manifolds yet?
EDIT: NVM, would help if I had looked at the entire thread.

Still tinkering away at this thing. Power steering system is now fully plumbed:

For the pressure side, I've got a -6 inverted flare (5/8-18) 90 at the pump, -6 3,000 psi hose, then a -6 JIC swivel at the rack end. Used a 6500-06-06 to turn the corner, instead of having fixed 90's at either end of the hose. To connect to the rack, I used a 14MM banjo x 6 JIC stainless steel adapter. On the return, I cut the hose off the factory return line, flared the end a little bit, and clamped on a new piece of 3/8 hose to get to the reservoir.

Next big update... the PCM has been mounted, and the engine harness w/ fuse and relay box is basically done:

Took a while to track down some new connectors/terminals, as well as finalizing a lot of the stuff I left behind when I originally thinned the harness. Just needs some tape and looming to be fully complete. In that picture, you'll see the upper radiator hose and the intake elbow fighting for a spot in the engine bay. That's the next task. I think I have something figured out, need to order some parts first.
