jvab strut revalve?

it looks like your strut is missing the centering ring. The ball joint receiver needs this to maintain an alignment when you disassemble and reassemble the car.

^I think you're right, I never noticed that.

Back to my original question, is the little nub on top of the upper stud hiding a nitrogen port or something? I'm not finding anything online about how this type of strut is charged.

I don't think they have a traditional port. It requires custom filling gear, AFAIK

Ok so I think I might just go back to my original struts for the time being, turn those into coilovers or something. However, I emailed GAZ and they told me they can get me new struts for 135gbp apiece, so that's definitely an option. I gave them this drawing which is the Bilstein/jvab strut but with a normal 240 strut top end, so it would hopefully work with stock type mounts.

Maybe contact Motorsports-Tools for some dimensions. I’m pretty sure the top pin is 20mm diameter though. So then you get their offset strut mounts because they’re the best I’ve ever used. The escort struts use a giant thread and nut up top for mondo strength. Makes JVAB seem like a koni.

I found some dims of the insert and it seems like the JVABs are 75mm longer with the same stroke. Which I get the reasoning behind od it was executed properly.

Going with GAZ inserts would probably be a good idea. Their damping is good for the street. Rally stuff is good for… well… rally. It only works well when you’re actively trying to break your car in half.
