Kyle's RWD Experience, '84 242 TI

i hope he builds a really nice refined 400 street car and leaves the door the way it is. this sounds sarcastic but it isn't.
I'll probably paint the door, but only because I'm going to hack up the quarters anyways. It's sad, I've resisted for so long.

How wide? 17x9 would be a nice size, front and rear. I always liked the idea of having 4 of the same so I could rotate them.

If you need a 531, I have one that came off my car, has larger valves, but not much else done to it. I also have a cracked core with the seats removed, from the mikeP collection. that one would need a lot of work, including the cracks welded up, but if you wanted to try something like welded/reshaped combustion chambers, it could be a starting point.
Maybe 17x9 front, 17x10 rear? I'm not against 17x10 square, but unfortunately the set of RS I have the center offset is already different front and rear. With what I've got right now I could get a set of four 6" inner barrels, then front 2.5" lips and rear 3" lips.

I've got a 531 and a bunch of stuff here too but I appreciate the offer, I'd really love to just purchase a complete head pre worked over.

I think Kyle has something considerably more boujee than a 531 in mind.
To which Swedish deities should I swear my allegiance?

There are some extra goats in the neighborhood that could go missing.

But...he just mentioned a 531. :cameron:

4.5" outer, here. What kinda offset you gonna have with 6" inners? I have 6.5" inner on these, but I ran adapters for the pattern change. I was thinking of 5" inner, keep the 4.5 outer. I need to see about Bne unlimited triangles incorporated machining and drilling services to redrill to 5x108 and fit some inserts in the centerbores to make them hub centric and not some huge 3" centerbore. It's only money. If you're running adapters cause they're bimmer centers, carry on then.

So the way this has worked out I have two different sets of centers, front and rear. The rears I can read the part number on, those are RS 324, 17x9 +19. I haven't measured anything and the fronts have been rebuilt once anyways.

So I'm planning on taking that and putting something like a 3" outer lip, so around -10 on the rear? They're a really low offset center to make clearance for the big dumb R brakes

Lots of speculation and round about planning going on here.

Scope creep: I should put an 8.8 in this right? That's kinda where I am mentally along with building the RS up. I have the fronts figured out, but I guess I need to wait until I figure out the rear end. Which in my infinite wisdom I got the wheels redrilled to 108, so I'll have to drill some Ford axles I guess if I do this.

Its alot of extra weight for not a huge benefit unless you really need the added strength.

Are you going to be putting on drag slicks?

It's not even slicks I'm worried about, I'm worried about that radial launch catching an axle.

Not something I'm building the car around but I really like the piece of mind, we all know mid power cars that have broken 1030 axles.

More bench racing.

I have enough stuff just laying around to put a 5-6 cylinder white block in this car. In my mind it's more reliable and just as cool at the same power level (400 whp) as a turned up b230. I've been around white blocks since I was 15, and I have a ton of history with them.

I wouldn't be mad about that, they are still unique and themed appropriately.

The 6 cyl @ 400 hp would definitely but under a lot less stress than a b230.
