Late night spam bots

These now "what is the best [insert thing that has zero correlation to the forum] in [insert country which likely contains zero tbrickers]" spambots are not very entertaining.

Yeah, those are odd. Old accounts with long legitimate posting histories, but now posting 100% spam bot content.

Since they're old established accounts, it will take a super mod to ban them.

The one with 6 prior posts in late 2023 from taiwan was the probable culprit, faking RealTB posts.
That user might have compromised the second account.
All dating posts were from the same datacenter in the US.

We lost Buzz as a spamminator moderator because this new forum allows everyone in. Buzz vetted everyone personally.
Spammers knew that.

I adapted and ban dozens every week based on clues i have gathered, but the quick overnight movers get by.

Also, my school keeps being a bag of dicks, and blocked the IP spam site. And i don’t have internet at home. And theres no cell signal at school. So i was at work on a sunday, on TB, running outside in the rain for IP checks, back inside to do my unpaid mod work.
But i have beer and Tago Mago is playingg and i love most of you.

I'm weirded out that a spammer would even go through the trouble of making vaguely tb-sounding posts, or somehow getting the bot to pretend like it belongs. Seems like a lot of effort to Trojan horse its way into a forum.

PM me if you see new spammers. I try to ban all the probable suspects based on new members using fishy emails, ip addresses, names, etc.
i’m 5 pages behind in less than a week.

Mikep putting in the work, as per usual

He lost his way of keeping them out until he approved them when we switched boards. That probably sent a message and we had fewer attempts.
This new forum has attracted them in waves of differing styles.
I wish i had a way to search for certain member emails, because that is one recognizable trend. Many similar sign ups from the same weird domains in a day or week.
