Looking for engine swap advice Volvo 264 GLE 1980

To get some things out of the way i live in Europa so some common engines in the usa are extremely expensive or not optainble.
I am currently 20 and in college so i sadly dont have all the money in the world to spend on a new engine.
I would like to make my 264 my daily driver, gas is pretty expensive about $2.15 per liter or 8.17 per gallon so any fuel efficient engine swap ideas would be appreciated

I have some experience with working on cars but not enough to do a one of a kind engine swap sadly

I am currently finxing the rust and interior of the car it is in my opinion to nice to sell for parts or scrap it it has been sitting for 11 years in a heated shed of a car company. It has not run for 11 years but sadly i am noticing 2 major coollant leeks and it wont stay running when you let go of the gaspedal i am not sure it is worth saving the v6 prv engine so i would love some advice and Ideas for a possible engine swap witch is both fuel end cost efficient.
 
It will take a long time to recoup the costs of a engine swap and updating the car. Do some math, and I doubt it will save you money, and you will be driving a car that doesn't match modern car safety
I know that it will take a long time to recoup the cost of a engine swap but the engine has 255000km and i will make a effort to save it but i am not sure if i will succeed therefore i am looking for a engine swap.

I am currently daily driving a 1991 toyota celica so i would only improve in car safety if i would daily the volvo and i simply dont want a modern car so if i get a older car volvo is the best choice safety wise.
 
If it really has low miles, do the unorthodox and install a Maxxecu, if possible, LPG aswell. I'm not sure how these two can work together, but both can work with other petrol engines, if you decide on an engine swap. It is almost like an investment.
Coolant leak shouldn't be a big issue to fix, 11 years of sitting is 11 years.
I don't know either if there is a preventive fix for the camshaft wear on the B27... If no, you could dig inside this topic, you can also check if current engine has this wear already or not.
Is it automatic? If yes, convert it to manual. Hopefully there are M46 PRV bellhousings available.

These all could give you lots of great learning experience and knowledge before you even remove the PRV.

Sadly the engine has done 250000 kilometers so it is not brand new.
Though the camshafts look in great condition.
I will look into a manual swap thanks for the advice.
 
Did you do a compression test?

Kjets don't like standing for a long time. Injectors gum, distributors gum, vacuums harden and crack. All that sortable, with time and some kjet manuals, which are abundant on the net. Mere fact that it's starting and running at all is a great start.
