MaxxECU Questions and Support/Purchase: Post them here

cwdodson88; I have the included Maxx wiring diagram in front of me and 2 books (Haynes and Chiltons) as well...Im not sure if the information that is provided Here is Given with the Thought of me using the existing harness Or just using the Maxx flying harness which is further complicating the ability of me to grasp the concept...

Id rather have all new wiring throughout from the Maxx to the components if necessary but willing to tie into the fuel pumps and the ignition/starter if it saves time and keep it simple...

I dont believe that I would need the injector relay and/or the ballast resistor in the loop if I went with all new wiring...Watched a Microsquirt into 240 video and there was no ballast resistor or injector relay to be seen in the install..

I havent concluded nor done anything yet...Just thinking out loud so that those thoughts can be critiqued...Questions bring about comprehension and answers, correct? There is No power to anything as I have yet to figure out the connections but I am sure that I can get power either directly from the battery and/or any always hot or switched power source...That was too easy...

cwdodson88: Yes, there are 6 Peak/Hold injector output circuits catering to 1-2 high or low impedance injectors per output delivering a robust 8amps per output....This is from the Maxx Sport page....

Take this to a new thread. This is not a Q&A for basic fuel injection operating principles.

No worries, I came to the Maxxecu Q&A with Maxxecu specific, Not fuel.injection questions....I will get it SOLVED as usual...

I came to the Maxxecu Q&A with Maxxecu specific, ..
It’s not though, it’s standalone fuel injection 101; how do I power a relay, how does injector impedance work, what is switched 12v etc… none of this is specific to Maxx, has been discussed in this forum for the past 25yrs, and can be covered in a dedicated thread outside of questions which are actually Maxx specific

As stated, I will get it solved eventually as I have with everything else...There is more of a penchant to rise to the occasion of an emotional airhead than there is to give genuine help...Sorry that I even asked....

If you've never done automotive wiring, try searching amazon books for something like: "automotive electrical wiring".

On youtube, High Performance Academy has some free over-the-top videos on professional automotive wire harness construction. They also have paid video classes on more basic harness construction. I've never seen or paid for one of their full courses so YMMV, but they are currently on half-off sale.

You can still find the original Volvo greenbook wiring diagram for your '94 940 at: https://web.archive.org/web/20140701093225/http://volvowiringdiagrams.com/?dir=volvo/

Here's a couple links for basic wire type and size selection:

[and you should ask the mods to split off your content from this thread into a separate thread, something like:
Rewiring a 740/940 for an Aftermarket ECU ]

Thanks bobxyz...I also wanted to share with anyone who is having difficulty with wiring a car for a Standalone a YT VID by Blackthumb " Engine Swap Wiring: What you need to KNOW" which explains Everything in Basic Laymans terms about how to go about the wiring process Without the emotional-filled Personal attacks...I am gaining the knowledge, know-how and Confidence to pull this off...According to Blackthumb, Wiring in a Standalone is Way Easier than wiring in an ecu and the BASICS virtually apply to any Standalone...I say this as I was ATTACKED for comparing a Megasquirt wiring process to the Maxx....Of course some things will be different according to the components being wired in but the process is pretty much the same for all Standalones..Im hoping this HELPS Anyone who comes Behind me looking how to get started...Over and out...

Dude, calm down.

Its not about me nor what I want....You're wasting your time with me if you are looking for opposition...The Challenge is with Thyself, not me...Allow civility and mannerism to prevail...Have a great day and Happy Holidays...Im not interested in wasting time nor space in what Should be an educational forum for all to learn...

That’s the thing, there is so much info on this forum if you just look, search, and read.

Ok, Im closing out my Maxxecu and Fuse/Relay panel install and have a few specific questions, car is a 1994 Volvo 940 turbo with Complete New wire loom...The Fuse & Relay panel is Already wired and has a Fat 10gauge Power wire for the fan and fuel pumps with the respective gpo wire connecting the fuse/relay panel to the ecu wire bundle...Do I just simply wire Fuel Pumps and Fan Power wires to the Power wire of the componenent? Also, I have 3 Wires in the Same Loom for Ignition Switch, Starter Switch and 12V Battery fused....Does battery fused mean switched 12 volts and is the Maxxecu Fuse/Relay panel Already wired for switched 12v? Also, I have a fuel pressure sensor that has 4 wires with 1 being a Shielded cable, do that shielded cable need to tie in with the others (at the connector end) or is it even necessary? Thank you and please help me close this out...This has been a brutal 5 months....One last question, my Sensors Ground cable Starts off as 1 wire from the connector but then branches off to 3 sensor ground wires...According to the Maxxecu Sport wiring diagram, All of the sensors get grounded on the same 1 sensor ground wire; diagram doesnt show 3 sensor ground wires, anyone know what the extras are for...Thank you to all replies..
