Thanks guys.
Hello Guest, welcome to the initial stages of our new platform!
You can find some additional information about where we are in the process of migrating the board and setting up our new software here
Thank you for being a part of our community!
The B20 dizzy drive fits into the top of the oil pump, it’s sort of like a key drive. The oil pump is driven by a gear from the cam. I assume there shouldn’t be too much slack as it’s worked for the ignition for many years.I mean, if the CAS is gear driven it's really fine. I don't even worry on belt setups much either, but I like a crank sensor. The CAS works great 99% of applications.
I recommend the Volvo p1 power steering unit like Jordan said. It's 2 wires and a drop down. A speed sensor would work perfectly for ramping up control pressure. Steering angle ideal but that's something we can't readily access.
4 wire is fine, 2 wire works great and takes less I/O. I'd recommend a 2 wire if possible.
what throttle body are you guys using?I ended up with a Race unit. I plan on an E throttle (one of the biggest reasons I went with a race).
Mitch, I plan on running a PS pump from a P1 Volvo. If you look through the Maxx documentation, they have the CAN network figured out to control it via whatever inputs you want.
that's awesomeFor the record, you can have working cruise control with a VSS input and an electronic throttle body
Thanks. I'd like to get one good season of actually driving my car (touch wood) and then I think I'm going to go after the ECU. E-throttle's are like black magic to me at the moment but it kind of feels de rigueur at this point.Bosch. There is a list on the site of throttles and their settings. I'll likely just use a Volvo ETA from a P2.
Its very easy to wire and setup, but certainly daunting for a first time. the tools are all there to see your PID changes, real time, at 1000hz.Thanks. I'm pretty confident making nice wires at this point, the rest I've become content to hire out to more talented guys like yourself. Its very easy to wire and setup, but certainly daunting for a first time. the tools are all there to see your PID changes, real time, at 1000hz.
I was looking at this for my 740May i introduce you the newest CAS toys on the market?
Nockenposition Adapter Kit Volvo B230
Haha! I was actually just about to ask this.that's awesome
Use a race model if you want knock control there are other Volvo specific goodies that make it a much better option than street. Mainly built in VR conditioning circuitry that will make doing almost unlimited things with stock Volvo parts as easy as splicing in your stock pigtails....I'm considering a maxxecu swap for my upcoming b21a+t fuel injection conversion, the goals are somewhere in the ball park of 300hp (ideally)
I know very little about engine management, and nothing about the actual wiring (yet)
in terms of luxuries, all I really care about is knock control and mayyyyyyyybe a coil on plug setup (youtube told me to)
what would you recommend in terms of management?
You can work these connectors very easy with normal desk staples (;Brett, have you ever taken these molex cmc connectors apart? Do you have the pin extraction tools? They're expensive!

Awesome. When I was in formula sae, I made a lot of connector tools by taking a file to welding wireYou can work these connectors very easy with normal desk staples (;
