Mike Jr's 1979 Volvo 245 project

Also I'm onto my third and final set of wheels for this thing. I managed to finally find a set of my all time favorite, the holy grail of wheels, the BBS E50. They're from a Ferrari 308 16x7.5/8 in 5x108. I'll still need to do a few things to make them work, and I may change out the barrels and lips to 17", or I may just run them as it. We'll see.

I got the high build primer on the doors, and hood blocked down with 180 grit, then did two coats of epoxy primer for corrosion protection and three coats of primer surfacer.

I'm going to let that primer soak down, shrink up, and fully cure for a week before I sand it. I'll then block that with 320 and if it's good I'll D/A it with 600 before it's ready to paint.

I got the gate ready to prime today

My tech had nothing going on today so he decided to help block the roof. Got a long way to go and a short time to get there...

Wheel choice reminds me of your Group A tribute car. You used something similar but not quite E50. I was contemplating a Group A tribute and was like... well how would I ever find a square set of E50s?

You can do either. You can bodywork over top of epoxy within the first week after spraying without having to sand, but you'd need to sand it first after that. You can also put epoxy over bodywork. A lot of fillers and metal glaze are direct to metal now. What we use is.

The Superbuild poly primer is DTM, but the 2k primer we use is not, so we spray a coat of epoxy over the poly, then we go wet on wet with the 2k primer surfacer.
