Momo wheel on '73 140, hub clearance issues

Currently trying to mount an aftermarket wheel on my '73. I tried the 240 hub I have on hand and while it does fit the splines the adapter itself interferes with the plastic surround on the column. Has anyone dealt with this and if so how did they solve it? Different adapter?

I recall reading somewhere about different depths somewhere. I can't seem to find where.

You probably need the early adapter on the left.

They aren't available anymore but I might have one in storage. I'll check next time I'm there.

The one on the right is a little taller. Here is the listing I found that shows which cars each one fits but it's a little confusing. It goes from right to left.

I have to wonder what the dimension from the flange to the splines are on that one on the right compared to what I am trying to work with. It needs about a 1/4" to 3/8" to fit.

If you could find one of the ones on the left that would be great.

So it needs 9-10 mm taken off around the perimeter and leave a spigot for the spline to bottom out on?
Yeah, either the outside diameter of the flange on the adapter has to be turned down, some length added to how far the adapter sticks out, or the surround has to be cut. I'd rather avoid the last one.
