MountainMeet 2024, September 17-22

Okay y'all, we're nearly 2 weeks into August and I'm still missing food money contributions from over 20 people that say they're coming. That's a minimum of $1400 I'm short on budget if all these people show up. For those of you who DO pay and wonder why the cost has gone up so much, this is why. If I could count on everyone to chip in, we could cut the per-person cost nearly in half.

If you can't come, or if money is just super tight and you want to come but the cost of food is a consideration, please let me know. It's really not a huge deal, I just need something to plan off of.

After thinking on the tubing thing a bit more, it's probably not a great idea. Average water temps in the local rivers in mid September hover in the mid to high 60s, which is...chilly.

it will depend on ambient temps, but that may not be too bad. the objective is lazy floating, not like marathon swimming :-D

Not sure which emoji to react with. Bummer about the 2 extra days, but at least they let you take 2 off.

Yeah. It’s a 9hr ride from NE DC, more like 11 from my house. I was hoping to travel wed.
And i foresee it turning into thur afternoon. Traffic, sleep, yadda.

High 60s is high 60s. The shrinkage issue doesn't care what was your original reason for dipping into the water.
high 60's water temp on a 68 degree day is sucky. high 60's water temp on an 85 degree day isn't bad.. don't read too much into it, and the shrinkage isn't a problem if you're not actively trying to get busy in the water ;)

also 60's water temps can keep beverages cooler longer :-D (though, adult beverages appear to be frowned upon whilst actively tubing. that's cool)
