MountainMeet 2024, September 17-22

the bulk of the loadout will happen in the morning, but my stuff is packed, colds are cold. may see if I can fit the big cooler in the car, but that might also be a bridge too far (would be nice though). got some honey bottled, rub mixed up, etc etc.

plan is to get on the road around 9am for a ~4pm arrival time, traffic, police, etc allowing.

also need to put the finishing touches (not really) on the pinewood car in the morning. lol.

Got the car about 95% legitimately finished. I took a quarter mile test drive Sunday that unearthed some definite issues and those have been solved. Fingers crossed on a more comprehensive test drive today.

As of right now carb tuning is the major concern but I have high hopes. Secondary I just thought of last night, my clutch releases right at the floor and there is not cable adjustment left, so I guess that is also a thing.

Coming tomorrow hell or high water.

Speaking of high water... NC just got rather a lot of rain... how are the roads leading into the area? I81 corridor?

See y’all in 3 million shakes of a lamb’s tail.

I'm trying to envision that... would it be in the back seat or the front? Maybe it could serve as an interior "windshield wiper" (or duster).

And the bigger question: would the tail swishing help the 5th gear stay intact? Inquiring minds wanna know.

(Seriously though... have fun y'all!)

5th gear survived. 3rd survived. Probably because the car had no power.
It also squeaked past some ridiculous situations, and sat one out on 58 west of Norfolk, because I stopped to pee.

PS: I'm not sure when it got repaved, but it was nice and smooooooth.

@SvedSled ran it with me in his rental GR Corolla. That thing would tear out of a corner like crazy, the wagon had plenty of grip, but still basically an open diff (unmodified G80) so it probably never engaged at any point. So I'd have to wait and get it pointing straight before putting some gas pedal into it.
