MountainMeet 2026: September 2-7, the Labor Day Edition

Not sure what this year looks like yet. It's extremely unlikely that I'll be able to take the whole week off having just started a new job, and that also affects my ability to do things like prep and host.

This may legitimately be the year of self sufficiency. Like I may just give someone the code to get the key on Wednesday and tell y'all have fun and don't burn the place down.

Need to talk about it with Newboss® but yeah. We'll see.

Alright, we're about a month out, give or take a week or three, which means when I wake up tomorrow I'll have to pack and leave as early as possible, so probably not a bad idea to start getting a final head count and Big Meal (tm) tally.

I'm down to do bbq, I'm not sure if I'll have the ability to get one of the big cookers up there (will need to check with other locals that are going up), but if I can solve that hurdle, we can do a shrimp boil as per usual.

The KISS method for other meals not named breffast (and maybe even breffast too) is likely a good strategy (burgers, dogs, chicken, that sorta thing), will need to ensure we've covered the cooking equipment requirements for whatever items we're discussing though.

I'll try and keep a running tally of real info(tm) in this post so it's easier to copypasta to the OP.
Also for planning and material aquisition, lets see if we can somewhat standardize on some things (and then just add individual pieces of flair. 15 is the suggested minimum).

I've added some ideas, lets get this sorted :)

Weds: Usually dinner, maybe lunch as well
(not sure if I'll be up weds, but folks will be there so this is a solid tbd)

Thursday:

breffast-eggs/pancakes/bacon?

lernch-yolo seem fair?

dinners- burgers/dogs? spaghetti night? something fairly easy to throw together would probably be nice. perhaps a street taco bar thing that could be rolled into friday breffast tacos/burritos?

Friday:

breffast-eggs/pancakes/bacon?

lernch-usually a fend-for-yourself situation as folks are arriving, etc. but maybe something easy like smashburgers on the griddle or something (provided we have one. or burgers on the grill otherwise)

dinners-possible boil (along with seafood boil)

Saturday (the day):

breffast-eggs/pancakes/bacon?

lernch- TIAB?

dinners-
kenny- pulled pork as is the norm. will smoke ahead of time again, that worked very well last year
lookin' for volunteers for sides

Required equipment:
boiler/burner setup for boil
grill (There is one there, however the grate at last check was in poor shape. anyone got the dimensions on that thing handy? we could pre-fab a new one)
flat top/blackstone/griddle
instapot?
crock pots?

Thanks Kenny.

I've gotten that whole week off, so I'll be able to actually be useful. I wasn't sure I would. This year, let's dispense with the fresh potatoes for breakfast. That always takes a ton of time and prep that I'd frankly rather be asleep for.

Wednesday lunch: eat on the way
Wednesday dinner: Spaghetti is the norm and easy.

Thursday breakfast: Eggs, bacon, pancakes, pre-shredded hashbrowns.
Thursday lunch: I like yolo. Grab something on your way up the hill or forage mushrooms, idc.
Thursday dinner: Hibachi? I guess I could get a rice cooker.

Friday breakfast: Eggs, bacon, pancakes, pre-shredded hashbrowns.
Friday lunch: TIAB
Friday dinner: Burgers/fries/baked beans

Saturday breakfast: Eggs, bacon, pancakes, maybe sausage, pre-shredded hashbrowns.
Saturday lunch: Hot dogs/brats
Saturday dinner: Boil

Sunday breakfast: Eggs, bacon, pancakes, pre-shredded hashbrowns.
Sunday lunch: TIAB
Sunday dinner: Pork, sides, the usual etc.

Monday breakfast: Pastries from Barbers, GTFO

My frustrations are almost always with lunch. I just always feel like we finish breakfast and I start having to prep lunch, so we're going MAD simple for lunches this year.

Oh, and I guess this means it's time to start sending in food budget money. Same as last year.

$35 per day per person. Count the day you arrive, but not the day you plan to leave.

Ex: One person, arrive Friday, depart Monday: $105. Two people arriving on Thursday, leaving Saturday: $140.

Please send paypal via the gift option to propav8r@gmail.com as soon as possible.

Dates for this year are 9/2-9/7! That's a Wednesday through Labor Day Monday.

Wednesday-Friday

Earliest you can show up to the lodge is 3pm on Tuesday, 9/2. Tuesday afternoon is generally set up and chill. My plan for Wednesday and Thursday is to just kick back and relax all day.
Now that we're back...that "Tuesday" is a typo, yes? Just asking so it gets fixed sooner if it is a mistake (y)

I think I'm out this year. I hate to miss, but my usual road trip brick is broken in another state ATM. I think getting it home, fixed, and then going on another trip with it within a month is a bit too ambitious.

Hope it's a good one!
