Hi all!
I have owned a 240 and an 850 and have lamented the sale of both, especially the turning radius of the 240!

Recently my uncle passed away and he has this engine trans combo in his shop that I need help identifying. If any additional pics of specific areas are needed I can take more as requested.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Looking at the oil pan, custom mounts, and intake and exhaust plumbing it looks like they were putting that in a FWD car. I have no idea why there's a CD009 behind it for a FWD application though

without a build sheet or receipts showing what parts are inside (if any) it’s hard to determine value. this looks to be a heavily customized setup for a very specific application which likely means you won’t extract much value from the one-off external pieces. i haven’t kept up on redblock parts for at least 10 years so i don’t have a clue what market rate is for a 16v b230 or a cd009 trans

Im sure someone on here can help you but its gonna take more than just posting couple of pics etc. Going to at least start with a phone call and probably lead up to a visit. Throw it on ebay and auction it

I would at least take off the cylinder head and oil pan to have a look at the internals. The prices for a stock 16V I have seen here in Germany recently range from 800 € for a complete stock engine with gearbox to 1500 € for a whole car in bad condition but with a mint engine.

Hi all,
I have some additional information: I bore scoped a cylinder and noticed Yoshifab Traum Piston SN19070 was on the top of the piston.
The injectors are billet Atomizer 750 PPH. It is looks like this has never been run.

That is a straight up setup vs. the slanted setup that a b230 would normally have. My guess is this setup is for a race car that has an air-to-water intercooler inside the car and a turbo setup back towards the firewall. I am going with RvolvoR, on being a land speed car.

I'm sorry all, I am lost with this train of thought regarding the CD009 transmission and injectors for 1000hp.
I am an admitted volvo ignoramus. Can you dumb it down for me please?

The CD009 transmission is NOT a Volvo transmission and was never fitted to a Volvo car. It’s a common upgrade to use in 240/740/940 cars behind the redblock engine when seeking large HP numbers.

The injectors combined with the pistons in this engine as well as other evidence suggest this engine was put together with said large HP numbers in mind.

There are other modifications in this setup that indicate a very specific goal in mind, however these would likely not effect the overall value as they are to specific.

See if you can stick a borescope up through the drain plug and get some evidnace of the rods inside. Willing to bet they are also yoshifab, if not they will be another performance aftermarket rod

To make this really simple if you don’t have the knowledge. This is a setup that would have cost a substantial amount of money and time and knowledge to put together and not something you should give away.

You could post it in the for sale part of this site and include all of the info currently known. Someone would take it. Same goes for any Volvo pages on FB ect.

As far as value goes I’m from the uk so our costs are different, I couldn’t advise on the transmission side of things but over here the 16 valve head would be upto £4-500

Your bottom end would be of similar value.

Due to lack of knowledge and specs someone would be taking an element of risk purchasing this. I would suggest this complete setup could hold value of up to 1000£ some US guys might be able to point you a more specific price. Finding someone to pay that might be a different story

Thanks to all for scratching your collective brain cells for me!
90volvo: You were right you all are excellent super sleuths.
Spock345: Correct observation! If you had borrowed The tricorder from "Bones" I'm sure you would have the same info that Josh has.
AnthonyHardy2: Josh at Yoshifab would know, but he confirmed purpose of land speed car.
Alex Buchka: Spot on thanks to Josh at Yoshifab that build info is available
GTJordan: your intuition proved correct! Josh at Yoshifab confirmed it is his build.
RvolvoR & Mopar318: Yes that was the design purpose.
VB242: I love your sense of humor
Wheel_wizard: That would have been my next step, but Josh has the complete build specs.
Jamesmoore: Your assumptions of HP and need for strong transmission were spot on including the substantial cost to build.

Josh has offered to help find a new home and is the only person that I believe can make any specific comments regarding this build to include the valuation. All I can say is thank you all and I hope someone sets a new worlds record with this beast!

I would be happy to post whatever Josh approves of, since this was a custom "one of a kind" build with lots of secret sauce!
I want to respect what could be intellectual property.
Thanks again all!
