Official Davis 2023 Thread

I'm trying to make it from San Diego.
Did you make it?
I guess my account still works...

I'm going to be there Volvoless once again. See you on Sunday.

Looking forward to seeing my VolBros!
I was going to go Volvoless too, but too much travel in coming weekends to make it happen this year. You need to make it down to Monterey to hang out with your Volvoless friends. I have a 244, but it doesn't count.

Jo here, just a thanks to all that came this year. Smaller turnout this year, but it was fine, just made it more manageable for those of us running the event.

I would love some feedback on the drive route this year (at least the part that was actually planned, not the detour that Google maps took many of y'all on).

We will NOT be using Google maps next year! Good grief.

I've mostly been a TB lurker for the past 7-ish years but I'm trying to be more active. I guess most of y'all are OK. 😜

Thanks again!

I didn't make it due to flights being too expensive, but I ended up with a bar tab Saturday night about the same as the flight woulda been....

LOL. Well at least you still had a good time. My house purchase keeps getting delayed, so no WM revival just yet. I might try to host something this year on a piece of property we own once the tenants are out, it's going to be vacant for a short time while we freshen it up for sale. A great spot for a WM campout, 5 acres in the foothills.

Another successful trip with the only issues on my car being a fuel pump that gets noisy when it gets hot, and my thermostat taking a dump and running the car too cold.

Made it back in one piece!

I enjoyed the portion of the drive I was able to do before fuel pump issues, if you skipped the section that nearly cost me an oil pan last year I 100% approve. Hopefully an alternative mapping solution is possible, if you need beta testers for the drive next year let me know.

Thanks for the work you put into the event and drive, looking forward to next year already!

Thanks Jimmy! Yes we did skip that section, it was even worse than last year when I looked at it a couple months ago. Hope you found a new fuel pump relay (or that the jumper is still holding up).

Thanks for the offer to test out routes. I was thinking I might try to organize an informal TB meetup later this summer to test out new mapping apps and drive routes, I'll post up about it once I get my s*** together.

Thanks again!

Davis Meet complete!
Left Lynnwood late Thursday towards Portland to pick up my co-driver, photographer and local guide..
Booked it to Eugene, Or and stayed at The Graduate Hotel, nice place..
Left Friday late morning for Dixon, CA. Hit the hotel late and passed out..
Woke up late for the Sat group drive! missed it so visited family in Sacramento.
Rolled up to Walter's place for the BBQ, late.. but still got to yab with super-awesome folks.
Sunday made the show no problem and had a really good time!
Met more super folks and even got "furthest driven"! + $150 gas card! ogled the cars and chatted up a few people.
Took the "back way" home, broke down in Bend, OR towed it home the next day..
Needed 3 days to catch up on sleep and repair my liver...
Thanks to William Rihel, Volvo Cowgirl, Walter, Gareth, and so many others for hospitality and conversation.
