They're there to put a restriction in the vacuum advance. I haven't been able to find a vacuum restrictor and it kind of needs it since with the twin Webers it's only drawing vacuum from one cylinder.
I've heard of folks using Weber jets as restrictors.

Or just add a vacuum manifold hooked up to all four runners to take vacuum off of.

Latter I believe won’t work without check valves as then the cylinder drawing vacuum would also pull air not just from the diaphram but the other 3 cylinders as well so you end up with less (and probably not enough) vacuum and if you put in check valves then the vacuum can’t be normalized as there’s no path to atmosphere.

I just need to order an adjustable vacuum restrictor and set that.
