Potential El Cheapo 700/900 Hydro motor mount option?

Hey y'all just was wondering if anybody's tried this.

So apparently 740 hydro mounts and Porsche 928 motor mounts are interchangeable which then led me to finding out that those guys use a mount for a Ford pickup truck (Anchor 2698) that are like $16 CAD a pop and widely available. The only real drawback is that they are solid rubber but I'm willing to accept that at a vastly lower pricepoint.
Edit: Apparently they're hydraulic too?

The mounts look almost identical and forum posts suggest so aswell so I was just posting to see if anybody's had any success with this? Might try it in my car since my motor mounts are pretty much kaput.

Attached is a side by side of a (worn out Anchor) beside an OE volvo mount off a porsche forum.

I tried anchor hydraulic mounts last winter. They lasted 3 months and collapsed. These were the correct Anchor part number for a 940.

That said these mounts listed are for a 4 cylinder Ford ranger late 80’s to early 90’s vintage.

I just ordered a DEA and a Pioneer brand mount from RockAuto. I will compare with other aftermarket Volvo mounts once they arrive.

Yknow I didn’t even think of that but a slightly better brand of Ranger mount could be even better than these.

Volvo aftermarket on the left, Ford aftermarket on the right. Modification would be required. The Ford mount uses larger bolts and the locating pin would probably need ground off. Overall height looks close enough to work.

Diameter looks good too. Shimming the bottom may be an option to get the height even closer. Which brand were these ones and were the other brand mounts any different?

I’m thinking of trying this out on my 90 740. I got my hands on a ranger motor mount and it does indeed seem like a good match. The ranger mount is 74.3mm tall and the stock Volvo 7/9 series mount was 86.5 mm tall. I found these 1/4”(6.35mm) spacers specifically meant for shimming out motor mounts. I’m thinking that putting them in both sides of each motor mount might bring it close enough to work at 87mm tall.

The thread is larger on the ranger mounts I bought. You’ll need to drill out the Volvo arm to accommodate it. This is the only reason I haven’t tried it yet.

Please share the OE P/N from the FORD 4 banger hydro mounts. This may be the best available path forward for all the RB hydro mount folks.

The oem ford ranger mounts are discontinued. There’s still plenty of aftermarket ones available though. I’ve been researching viable solutions for the 7/9 series for a couple of weeks now and it looks like a late 80’s ford tempo might be a workable alternative as well. I’m going to be getting one in a few days so I’ll report back if it’s any closer to the Volvo ones than the Ranger one.

I measured my 740 hydraulic motor mount brackets and they are 12mm on the dot. They should be able to accommodate the Ranger motor mounts without drilling as the mounts are also 12mm

Ok finally got the tempo motor mounts. It’s closer to the Volvo mount than the Ranger mounts. It the main body is 78mm long, the studs are 30mm. One could put a quarter inch spacer (mentioned above) on the top end of the mount and get the height pretty damn close. The width is within a few 3 millimeters of the original. The original is 107mm wide and the tempo is 104mm. I mocked them up in my hydraulic brackets and was able to get them to fit with a few seconds using a file. The stud on the bottom will meed to be shorter by a few millimeters but that’s a quick fix. The locating pin on the bottom also lines up with the hydraulic brackets.
