ok so well my stock rims on my 91' 740T are pretty nasty w/ brake dust being that i've been so busy lately i havn't been able to take care of them like i used to so well ... i've been trying everything to clean them and lots of it is taking the paint off in a few spots and i figure .... y not just clean the wheels to the point that they are bare metal and repaint them(or just take that first layer of paint off)

so well, what brand paint and what color should i use to get them as close to stock as i can??? i'm going to be painting the lug covers too so i am going to try to make a stencil of the volvo logo on it so i can repaint that too while i'm @ it so it all looks brand new ...

has anyone done this before?

mike

Duplicolor wheel coating really works well... Scrub them down with scotch brite or whatever, make sre they are very clean, and then do many light coats... It turns out very well.

there's a pic of one of the rims ... you can see how the paint is coming off. it bugs me so much that i let it get this bad. ... so well ... what should i used to finish striping them(or just keep doing what i'm doing) and then what kind and color paint to use

I've repainted many Virgo wheels. The only ones I used liquid stripper on was the first set, only because they were partially stripped already. The rest only had worn factory powdercoat finishes, so I start with a wet sand using 220 grit. Then I follow up with a 400 grit wet sand, clean well, and dry. I usually do a final wipe down just before painting to get any dust off. I've only used Dupli-Color paints so far, and they seem to work well and the spray cans & nozzles operate as the should.
