Rescuing a “Mint” Condition 1975 Volvo 244DL

My 242 has the same damage as your rear passenger door in about the same spot where the door would be, wtf are people doing. Hope to see that green brought back to its former glory!
Lol, yeah I've noticed 240's pick up dents in similar spots, kinda funny.

When I worked at the dealer, a young lady bought one just like yours. Not even a week old she took it on a camping trip to Estes Park Colorado. While they were there a major storm blew in with torentail rain and wind, The storm totaled her car. I don’t remember if bought another Volvo.
Sounds like the world's best parts car.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I've had no bites on this 240 at $1200. Listed here, IPD Classifieds, Craigslist, OfferUp, KSL, and Facebook Marketplace (yuck).

Meanwhile, my Amazon is running great, though the B18 and M40 are a struggle on the freeway on my commutes to work (65-70mph), and the power isn't ideal trying to blast uphill on many of the hills leaving town (55-60mph, no passing lane). While I finesse my way around in Boise's ever-growing traffic dilemmas, the 240 has happily been sitting at home...... with a B20 and an overdrive M41. Do you see where I'm headed?

I feel like it would be a shame to rip the B20 and M41 from the 240, though it wouldn't be so bad if I found a buyer who wanted to do a B230FT or LS swap.

Thoughts?

Does it run yet? K-jet doesn’t like sitting. It’s probably all plugged up.

If it were running, it would probably be easier to sell.
Not a runner. Property management company has ended my mechanic shenanigans. :(
Luckily I did the bulk of my work on the Amazon before they cracked down on it.

That sucks! Can you afford to rent a storage space? Or find a small ma and pa mechanic shop and see if they would let you work on it in the back of their lot for a small fee?

As a runner this could probably be something to sell, but k-jet is a pretty big problem for a lot of buyers.

You could always carb swap it.

I personally don't like K-Jet, but it's better than D-Jet haha. Just my opinion.
IPD's carb kit gets tempting, and some used carb kits on eBay are even more tempting.

I've been keeping my eye out for storage.

I'm not opposed to keeping the car altogether, but my Amazon has all of my attention right now since it's the daily.

I would rather cut off my fingers and toes than have a Weber 32/36 DGEV on a car. I suppose it would be fine for getting it to start and motivate you to work on it, but I would rather have a set of SUs.

That being said, they're getting pricey these days. I saw a set of rebuilt ones on VP's site for $1800...

On the bright side, the IPD kit is a DGV, so it's manual choke.

Save yourself. Get a set of SU hs6 carbs, and send them to island automotion.

Or get yourself the tools to rebuild them yourself. The reamer is only like $75. That’s what I did. So far I’ve done 10 sets of carbs, and never had issues since.

Really neat car, I was surprised as it cleaned up after coming out of the bushes, these are tough old cars. I like the color too, this would make a great driver once gone through, Id like see this build thread continue!

The goobers are hanging out this afternoon. Crazy how much Volvo evolved in 10 years. 1965 vs 1975.
In case you haven't seen it, I have a thread rolling for my 1965 Volvo 122S Amazon. I pulled these two cars out of the weeds together.

And the 240 in 1975 was a refinement of the 140 series, so still kinda around 10-11 years, with some minor updates.
