So I'm looking at two weekends (neither appear to overlap with anything school related for the local chirrins', but that's not a hard and fast requirement either way)...
Date set: April 9th to the 12th
I don't want to move it up really, weather is hard to predict (and it crunches what is likely to already be a really busy lead up with all of the house projects I've committed myself to lol) and if we have a normal winter it takes a while for the yard to be serviceable.
Tentative Itinerary
Thursday - Not really planning anything formally (but shout in the thread if you plan to arrive tomorrow), that's still a full 24 hours away and I just can't right now lol. push comes to shove we'll hit a sports bar or something for dinner or like grill some kinda meat. Whatever. If its only one or two of yall, I'ma go to the younger child's soccer game and catch back up later.
Friday - I have to get the mudbugs from wherever that happens to be (still fuggin $4/lb dammit), but that will be fairly early in the morning. AFTER THAT... will probably start smoking the friday night ass, and work on odds and ends on the pavilion until car shens take over which is usually a growing crescendo over the course of the day. Please do not come knocking on my door before 8:30am, and probably best to just text me ahead of time, number will be down by my address if its not already.
Saturday - Let's set a formal kickoff of shenanigans at 9am. This is obviously not a hard "be here or be square" time, but odds are ain't no one doin' shit before then and I'm certainly not going to be dynoing anything before then or honestly probably before 10am.
Daytime shens will be from the aforementioned 9am until roughly 3pm (for me), whereupon I will start working on the mudbugs and whatever else for dinner and leave the ongoing shop shens in some hopefully quasi-responsible hands. somewhere 430-5ish we'll transfer from the shop to the pavilion for the generally accepted "stupid shens" part of the evening. This is not a hard stop for anyone in the middle of working on something in the shop, but all dynoing will cease.
Sunday - Recover and roll out. Usually groups get breakfast somewhere (like waffle house). Anyone that wants to hang out for a bit is welcome to do so, but come 3-4pm the broom's gonna come out
Will plan on doing the usual stuff, keep an eye out for drag strip availability (not sure they have a 2026 calendar yet), dyno day and shenanigans friday afternoon and saturday all day, of course the usual crawfish boil and cookout. We tried the "build a car in 24 hours" thing last year and that fell flat likely due to lack of organization and planning beyond a grease board lol. I am game to try something like that again but would like to be a bit more granular this time in order to achieve success -- or we can take a pulse on what folks are working on or would like to work on and maybe group-labor help folks out with things. I'll leave that open for discussion right now, and I will try to get the word out beyond just the forum in a reasonable amount of time this year. Maybe that will happen too lol.
Usual caveats apply:
1) don't limp something down here without a real plan
2) allocate extra budget for the possibility of failures along the way. Murphy is real and will bite you
3) ain't nobody crashin' on the couch, plan your sleeping strategies accordingly. Camping may be available (is largely weather dependent), and might be great, or might be miserable, sooo.. I'd probably watch the weather and try and make that a last minute call.
4) don't be an idiot, or you will get tossed. I'm good buddies with several of the local deputies(some live in the neighborhood), this is Alabama, the good 'ol boy network is a thing, you don't wanna find out.
5) DONT DO DUMB SHIT IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD - I feel like I shouldn't have to spell this out, and yall have historically been well mannered in that regard, but after recent problems with other car folks, I am gonna call it out specifically. There are a lot more children running around, riding bikes, and generally not giving a single fuck about the rules of the road (because dead end, and never a lot of traffic), so take heed and behave yourself until you get out on the main drag.

There are several hotels at & around a nearby exit off of I85 (I *think* its exit 9), you do not want to stay at any of the ones by the exit at the eastern blvd, so if it's more than ~5 miles away you may be at the wrong exit. PM me or ask in the thread if you have questions about this.
