Stock 1993 940T = 16mpg. combined highway/street driving with a light foot .OMG Don't stop I'm almost there!

I always got about 20-22 mpg average, until I rebuilt the motor, t3/to4e, full 3" exhaust, 3" maf and tb, #42 injectors, hollowed out cat, etc. Then I got about 22-24mpg. And I did not give a shit about mileage, drove it like I hated my tires. Used 91 or 93 octane like all my turbo cars, whatever the highest unleaded they had at the pump. Can still buy leaded racing fuel here, never used it though.

My 940 turbo got 23/24 at best. I heard something about diesel oil potentially clogging up the catalytic converter, but that's just me hearing something, no science whatsoever. I'd be checking my calipers, as someone mentioned above, and also check the cat to make sure it's not full of carbon deposits and what not, regardless of the diesel oil it could still be full of garbage.
cat has less than 300 miles

i ordered an 87* oem tstat.
I will install with stage 1 RBP chips and see what happens.

Remember I'm in $5.50/$6 gal gas land. even a 2mpg gain ends up being $10/week savings in fuel.

I have to find the issue.

The fumes would be behind you, you wouldn't breathe them. But a proper afr doesn't pollute excessively and the cat won't help very much.

If you really want one, been using a 100 cell racing cat on my V50 for 150k miles, works great.

I pay like, $6.86/gal for 91 on a good day.

I live with the expensive gas and mediocre mileage because I will never be able to afford a new, more efficient car unless I break down and buy a Mk4 VW or end up underwater in debt

Hope you get your em pee gees figured out. I'm waiting to see what the RBP chips do to my own mileage.

The new California cat could be limiting your exhaust flow, and may not last long. I found that California has shops install the same cat on NA and turbo cars, pinching the turbo exhaust down to 2 inches. Not causing your fuel economy issues, but Mine blew up within the first year, with stock boost

I have a 2.5" cat

My money is on thermostat + a bunch of little minor stuff which adds up. Dirty old injectors can give issues too which is likely why some people see MPG improvements from going to P80 ones.

I made a snake oil potion in the gas tank and italian tuned it, then did seafoam.
Car idled really smooth but I never checked the fpr for precise readings.

car did sit for 1 year. might need a bit more than 500 miles to settle everything out.

I just paid $4.04 per gallon an hour ago. $3.99 per last week, thats rough!

when I used a chipped EZK in my old LH2.4 car. It definitely got a bit better mileage per tank. The chip also seemed to improve throttle response so I called it a win and left the fuel ecu alone.

Don't sleep on the Honda game

New gas is pretty bad. If you're using 15-40 diesel oil dump it and put some normal 10-30 in it. I picked up like 2-3mpg with the 10-30 over the delo. You can always swap in a n/a shortblock too. Bump the compression and probably not worn out

I always thought it was because i was driving downhill going back to California from other states but that 1-2 + mpg was from better cheaper fuel I would get at the statelines.

no chance. Triple digits are right around the corner. kid has a heavy foot, and that 13c won't stay out of boost. No chance I'm not running heavy oil.

15-40 diesel oil is the ointment redblock jesus blesses us with.

last fillup 210miles÷12.92gal =16.25mpg

I also filled up the 960:
225miles ÷ 14.9gal = 15mpg.

I am being punished for not having a running 240 right now.
