Stock 1993 940T = 16mpg. combined highway/street driving with a light foot .OMG Don't stop I'm almost there!

last fillup 210miles÷12.92gal =16.25mpg

I also filled up the 960:
225miles ÷ 14.9gal = 15mpg.

I am being punished for not having a running 240 right now.
You know,
if you'd just get those kids an early S40, they'd be getting 32 mpg and have working A/C.
Plus it will likely keep teenage boys away.

Been there. :-P

Man you're the mpg master. Something has to be going on. My super modified 244 on lh2.4 with 100 percent e85 would get a lot better mileage then that

Just got 23mpg highway in my lh2.2 765t. I get about 16 in the city, because my work commute as a stop every quarter mile

so this morning I went to swap out the over axle exhaust pipe section when I noticed the muffler weighed way more than it should have. Shook out a ton of soot inside huge chunks of black. Both mufflers are fucked.
even with the rear muffler removed and only the resonator in place the exhaust almost sounds the same.

replaced tstat for volvo 87*
drove around with only the resonator and nothing behind it. I noticed the car staying slightly less out of boost. could be running less rich, better flow from exhaust or both.

ordered new starla cat back exhaust.

will report back on next tank fillup

Have you checked the resistance of the engine coolant sensor? I like to check at the sensor and the ECU, so you can rule out corrosion at the pins as well. I've had a few of those that were a ways off and making the engine run rich.

no.
It's tricky since the car is idling so well and power is good this is a hidden problem or problems.I need to find my misplaced electrical multimeter

Just checked, the connector looks pretty poor with stands coming out. I should probably resolder or fix the the spades. This is also the car that got super rusty inside. .

It never occurred to me to pull out the 2 head sensors and at least clean off whatever shit they are coated in. or maybe I just replace them altogether knowing their past.

This also promped me to check the plugs again. This cant be helping.
I used a bunch of fuel additive the last few tanks.

swapped all 4 plugs, 1 2 3 looked red and slightly dark brown but not terrible. #4 was dark.

Car is definitely running rich

I'm going to order both new gauge and coolant sensors. feels like the parts cannon is on auto reload with this dumb car. I should have stuck with Lh2.2 N/A

Do the cheepo $12 bosch ones work ok? or should I drop the cash on $100 oem?

Get one of these, then you have digital readouts and don't need to rely on the gauges.
It can also tell you MPG
