Hello, this may be of interest to some of you. Last weekend, I took my Volvo 244 Turbo with B230FK to the dyno. My mate tuned it. Most important modifications:

- B230FK (unopened, with unmodified original 530 head)
- KL T2 camshaft
- Pulsar GTX3076R 0.82 A/R with welded outlet for Tial MVR
- +90 exhaust manifold milled to T3
- EMU Black

I’d be interested in seeing a dyno graph showing the power band, I’m chasing 300hp and am questioning if I need to upgrade to a cam like yours over the ipd cam, but worried about the power band

Hello James, the diagrams are shown at the end of the video. In my opinion, you are well equipped with the IPD cam. You just need a little more boost pressure.

Agreed. IPD turbo cam is a decent cam for 99% of 8v engines.

Your T04E isn't doing any favours to your goal. Gt3071 or 30-770 would be much more modern and spool well for what they are.

To4E was very available, very easy to setup, cheap and I don’t believe it is a restriction to my setup.

Sure I could get a more modern turbo with better spool, but at what cost ? Another custom downpipe ? Changing the whole boost pipe and turbo mounting setup, for an expensive turbo, to maybe gain a bit of power a few hundred rpm earlier ?

I drive like a grandpa 90% of the time, the car potters me to work 4 miles on 30mph country lanes at 5am. It doesn’t need to be a race car, when I’m in it, the To4E is fine

Uhhh T04E compressor (50 trim and higher) is basically the same compressor map as a GT3071. The old t04e does the same pressure and flow at ~15% slower shaft speed as well.

Now the g30-770, that's a much more capable turbo.

@Jamesmoore Comparing the t2 to the IPD turbo cam or V15T...
LSA on the IPD cam is a few degrees less and should give more bottom end.
IPD Turbo has a smidge more lift, and possible less duration (comparing the KLR t3 to IPD Turbo cam from the spread sheet).

Going off the KLR t3 measurements....The KLR cams do have a more aggressive acceleration rate, which is good for more area under the curve and more flow through the port. The klr t3 has 40deg more duration at the same lift (0.200in) compared to the IPD turbo, and that's absolutely a significant amount. No clue how that relates to the klr t2 as I haven't seen any measurements for that cam.

Ok so the klr t3 could be a worthwhile upgrade, don’t you have to use lash caps to run that cam ? I’ve seen questionable issues running those

I Remeber doing a lot of research when doing my build and the ipd came out ontop for my requirements, giving good idle and low down power for a daily driver

Didn't know that, I'll be honest. I was getting at the laggy eBay nature of it more than anything but everyday is a school day as they say.

It really doesn’t feel any laggier than my Mildy modified 850 turbo. That’s running the stock 15G and doesn’t hit full boost (13psi ) till late 2K rpm and doesn’t give you the hit until about 3200, is a tiny turbo in comparison. The To4E on my redblock will hit my 12 psi by 3100 and gives you the hit about 3500 so doesn’t feel terribly far off what I’m used to and what I like

I'm honestly surprised. Fair play!

How's it for longevity?
