Tell me about LH3.1

Did you ever can your car? I bought a B cam for my 91 M47 244 and want to install it but then the sensible side of me says to leave the car alone since it’s running so well and just do the timing belt and enjoy it…curious as to how the 3.1 adjusted to the cam
I am planning to do the cam as my next mod. Another stage zero task to finish the suspension and then I'll do the cam.
Don't be sensible. Enjoy the better engine characteristics of the B cam in there! Come down and I'll help you install it if you need help. The B cam will give you a nicer highway torque output in top gear. You'll like it.

Don’t tempt me with a good time…I’ve been trying to find the valve shims so I can do that at the same time as the cam as the car is my only vehicle and ideally I’d rather not have it down for a couple days waiting on shims from ipd.

If they still rent the shim kit that is a good way to do the job. You pay them and they send you the whole shim kit. You use what you need and pay for those shims. You get the main cost returned. The deposit is the expensive part.

Yeah I didn’t see it on the site. I can always call them. The backyard mechanic in me was also just debating sending it since it’s a non-interference motor….but then I also thought I could replace all the hushers and redo the clearances all nice. Kind of want to use the car as my adventure rig for now

That's no excuse because the B cam is also non interference. lol Yes, do all that good stuff while you are in there. Makes for a good day. Manual trans cars especially need an engine that makes more high rpm torque.

My shim kit is currently in Maine. Unfortunately it needs to come back to California to be restocked before I can send it out again. I supply it with 5 of each size shim (other kits only have 4) and more sizes than Volvo offered, OE Volvo hushers, a pair of dental pics, a telescoping magnet, bucket depressor and seal installer as well as a free solid dowel pin. Lash caps are optional as no one has needed them yet.The cam holder tool on the left and cam gear counterhold tool on the right have been sold.
