The new look.

I went to pnp and got a bunch of hvac bits for my car. I started up the car and worked on the tune a little bit. I drove it out on to the street and back. The ebrake is dragging a little. I need to pull the rear wheels and take a look what’s going on.

My instrument cluster needs some attention. I don’t have a working gas gauge or tach. The temp works though. I’m not sure if my Speedo works quite yet since I didn’t really get past 5 mph.

I pulled the car out and did a little more tuning. I put some ducting in. I need to wire in the tach and investigate what’s up with the fuel gauge.

It surprising how much I have to trim off the fuel table.
 
I cleaned out the wiper motor and greased a couple of the joints for the wiper. I thought it would work better but now the fuse keeps blowing whenever I turn on the wipers. Doh.
 
I changed the wiper motor for a new one. I also worked on my tune for a while. I drove it back and forth a few times but the passenger side ebrake is still dragging so I have to pull the wheel and take a gander. Also the clutch still feels soft so I probably have to bleed that some more.
 
I’m piecing together a heater box for this car. It’s a bunch of parts from disparate cars and things aren’t lining up exactly. I also got the rear brake pads and shoes. Hopefully I can fix that binding problem.
I have a few days of travel for work. I plan to hit the ground running come Friday.

Also my power steering set up sucks. I might ditch this set up and go manual quick steer. I donno.
 
I got to pull it out of the driveway and drive it a little and work on the tune. I then changed the rear passenger brake pads and shoes. I had to remove a ton of rust from the rotor. I suspect that’s part of what was rubbing and catching. After I finished I realized the drivers rear has a similar thing going on. I plan to do that side later when I get back from a little work trip this week.
 
I figured out the drivers ebrake shoe was jammed sideways and maybe caught on something? I took it apart and maybe have it fixed. I was at first going to move the car over in the garage so I could get at it better and I guess it started to jam so I gave it some gas and the car did a little burnie. It made my day.
 
The rear brakes are fixed. They grew too many rusticles around the parking brake shoes and springs. The wire brush and anti seize were my friends. The metal looked structurally fine. It just bound up and wouldn’t readily release I guess the car didn’t like sitting in tall wet grass next to the ocean for a couple years. Boohoo.
 
I got my brakes all together but it’s weird my hand brake barely grabs and it’s all out of adjustment.
Maybe my cables stretched??? Could I make some spacers to give me a little more adjustment?
 
You go in to the back seat. Remove the ashtray and then the plastic cover behind it. Now with a long extension on the ratchet either 15 or 17 and tighten the bolt to adjust the handbrake. Also each cable has a retaining nut or nuts if it's aftermarket and you can adjust the cables individually there.
If you are putting in aftermarket cables they may need extra nuts to double nut the ends. Or make sure they are nylock nuts.
 
The big boy just holds down the bracket. At least that’s how mine looks. I made 1/4” bushings out of brass for the m6 adjusters and they kind of worked but I think the new cables might be cure. I hope. At least they were ¢heep.
 
I replaced the parking brake cables. It’s a wrangling job for sure. The old ones were super crusty so I’m glad I did it. Also thanks to Jack for giving me brackets. One of mine was bent plus the pin was messed up on it too. I still have to put the hand brake, the carpet back down and the passenger seat back in. The passenger seat rails were jamming bad too so I’ll loob em.
 
I got the cables back in and the car back together and they helped. The parking brake still kind of sucks on a hill though. I might put the spacers back in.
