The orange + blue 76 242

Where’d you get those battery terminals? I badly need to replace my cheapo autozone terminals. That leather belt is a unique touch I love it

Cool car! So what happened? Someone painted it blue and some of it came off later?

I was told by the previous owner that the car had been poorly repainted blue over the original orange at some point, and then the Arizona sun baked most of the blue back off. He then pressure washed more of the blue paint off, and started wet sanding until it reached the point it?s at now.

I got the gt grill and fogs installed, along with a gt spoiler. I also took it to a garage that is one of the few certified bne products installers and had them put on adjustable torque rods and align the car. He found I had tangled a vacuum line when I did my intake gasket and it was causing my car to idle high. Fixed that and it’s running better than ever. Next step is to install the exhaust manifold and 2.5” exhaust from klracing and head to some summer meets.

Summer 2024 bump -

I finally got the headers and exhuast on the car. It sounds pretty good.
- - Credit goes to elmford1 for the much appreciated help.
I'm currently finishing cleaning up the wiring behind the dash, and I added some extra details.

Great looking project! Sorry if I missed it but what are you doing for mufflers?
It's a full Simon's 2.5" kit from kl racing.

I did have to get some band clamps to replace the u clamps because the car is so low. I'd like to take it to a shop that can bend the center pipe up a little bit closer to the floor to give me a litte extra clearance.

I'll try and get a video of the car running with some revs, it sounds good.

I spent quite a bit of time wet sanding, compounding, and sealing the car this past month. This thing is tottally a jawbreaker. I've discovered it has had 4 different paint jobs over the years. The original bottom layer is volvo 116 yellow/orange or whatever they want to call it. (It's orange) Then it got primed, and painted blue. Then it got primed again and got a slightly lighter shade of blue. Then someone decided they wanted the orange back and bought the closest match off the shelf at home depot and used a roller to slap it on over most* of the car.
So when I sand on the top layer of rolled on orange, It goes through 5 different colors before revealing the original Volvo paint, which is still the nicest and best shining layer on the car. The drivers front fender must have been replaced when it got its first blue re paint, because that's as far as the paint goes...

It's pretty crazy how well it all polished up. These pics don't give the shine justice, but people have asked if I had it clear coated. I used a paint sealant on the whole car, and water actually beads up on it now!
