The Trolvo - Our 9-second 1.5JZ-swapped Volvo 240

So we dropped this video today, and we're very happy with the result. I'll point out that we've done this on standard springs and shocks, standard trailing arms (although we did box the lowers), using a 235 width drag radial and stock diff housing with 30-spline axles (3.54 ration with torsen centre). It runs a one-piece tail shaft from the Turbo 400 and to keep it from hitting the floor I use a simple extended pinion snubber - basically the standard rubber on a 2in stainless tube.

The fact that the car wheel stands with such a simple set-up is a credit to Volvo engineers. It's an amazingly simple but fun car.

Love that you guys continue to work on the Trolvo. Was worried there for awhile when it kept having issues but glad that you pushed through for videos like this

Thanks for that. All cars have problems through the build, but you can't let that stop you.

It's just a shame we haven't had more views on the videos. I'd love to push forward to the eight second-zone but we'd have to spend about $10,000 on the roll cage and suspension and my management have basically said no. They want me to move on to more "popular" projects. :(

I'm confused. If redblocks can hit these power numbers, 664rwhp if I read correctly I'm another thread, why don't we see the swedes running these 1/4 mile times or pulling wheelies like this?

That's not a redblock.
Clearly. I'm saying for all the high hp redblocks builds, turbo 16v and all, how is this 1J/2J doing what we aren't and why are we seeing Swedes on YouTube just doing crazy burnouts and not launches like this car? Especially with stock rear end parts.

So thanks, not new at all. Still itching for Overboostracing to post videos in English everyday.

I agree. Love his videos.

The easy answer is: Automatic transmission. The Trolvo is using a built TH400.

If you want to launch like the Trolvo...a built GM auto with a proper converter is the answer.

The Swedes also tend to run on airstrips and not proper drag strips, that hurts their ability to really hit the startling hard.

The Swedes have some serious tough Volvos. I talk semi regularly with some guys from over there and that have some cars that make the Trolvo look silly. But Trolvo was always a little silly. I mean it's an unfinished project that we bought cheap, threw a minimal amount of parts at and had some fun with.

I'd love to take the car to the next level with a cage, tubs and parachute (and some front end parts to make it less scary), but unfortunately it doesn't really get the viewing numbers my bosses would like to see, and it really is a numbers game. Right now the car is parted in the back of the shop, still together and running but unless we see a massive amount of views on those Trolvo videos it'll be cannibalised for parts.

Guess I will go back and make sure I watched them all. You should post of a link or two.
