Used FT pistons in F block?

I could try again, I'm still running that engine just with a different cam. I've wanted to try it with the -3 and -6 timing mod. It'd pull timing at light throttle cruise

Edit: I've ran the A cam, I actually love it, just idle quality was poo.
Wanna sell or trade the a cam???

Here's a piston from the B230FT. Ring groove clearance is good. I've seen photos of worse. I'm now leaning towards opening up the chamber and running F pistons. I have an IPD Turbo cam coming in the mail too.

F and FT rings have different part numbers. Why is that?

I'm going to yank the FT pistons soon and measure them with the specs in the greenbook.

It might be chrome plated vs standard cast iron top rings.

I haven’t dealt with too many stock F engines, so I’m not sure what the rings looked like. I do know that FT rings are chrome plated cast iron for the top ring.

For the rally engine build I used standard cast iron rings as I wanted the rings to seat quickly, and ring wear is not a big issue with a rally engine. Usually something else breaks first 🥲
