volvo 140 b230 swap

I'm new here so excuse my lack of experience. I am currently looking into getting an old volvo 142 and buying a donor car with a b230ft. Is it like drop in or do I need custom engine mounts and stuff? Any help is appreciated.
 
I haven't done the swap myself but it is definitely not a bolt-in deal, just based on the research I did looking to put an NA redblock with an M47 in my '67 144.

If you're going for a turbo engine, then I'm assuming you're not using the factory 50+ year old transmission that's in the car as that would probably explode in a violent way when exposed to boost.

Yoshifab (and a few others) make mounts to put an OHC redblock in a 140-series - you have the choice between mounting it "straight" as per the original engine, which will require modification to the oil pan and possibly the oil pump pickup tube, or you can mount it slanted, which will let you use the transmission out of a 2/7/9-series car. The latter might cause issues with the brake booster, if you plan on using the LH EFI intake.

You could try looking the 3-4 other 142>b230 swap build threads between pages 2-6 of this sub forum? Just a thought. Most have 142 and b230 in the titles too.

The quick answer is that its doable with a lot of time and patience and ingenuity. Challenges include the above mentioned age and rarity of everything and just the physical size. The engine bay is shorter, narrower and filled with fender walls covering the double wishbone suspension.

This was my first/only big engine swap project but I did came to it with a lot of other engineering experience and I'd spent the last couple years before digging in wrenching and modifying Landcruisers. Maybe these days I could just 3D scan the engine bay and get on it but it's still a challenging project.
