Hi,i am about to receive my replacement cylinder head and am thinking about valve clearances. I. Have had various pieces of advice as to setting clearance , hot, cold, with hushers fitted, without. Etc. What is the definitive methode?

I just make sure the hushers get flattened by a few cam rotations. Then you can accurately check clearance with the hushers in there.
You have to be careful with that. If the valves get tipped/shortened when a head is rebuilt the hushers will push a lot harder and throw off your clearance checks.

If you want to use the hushers:
You can set the valve clearance on the bench with no hushers, then pull the cam and install the hushers. Then install the head. Usually easier than when it’s in the car.

I don’t use hushers though. Just set the lash a bit tighter and it’ll be pretty quiet.

It's impossible to get accurate clearance readings with new hushers in place.

My "hand book" gives 0.35_0.50 mm inlet and 0.40-0.45 exhaust. Other sources give 0.30-0,40 mm for both. Which is best?

For original engine and cams, set at 0.3mm-0.4mm, adjust when they’re at 0.5+mm or 0.2mm or less. I tend to set them all at 0.3mm or so as they’re lighter are quieter.

Intake and exhaust.
