were there OEM Sunroofs on Volvo 244's?

1. What years were factory equipped sunroofs available on Volvo 244's?

2. Will an OEM 1993 244 Sunroof fit a 1987 244?

3. Did all Volvo 244's have space for sunroof drain tubes on either side interiors of the front door pillars and into the rear behind the passenger windows in 1987 (like they did in 1993)?

4. Which year Volvo 244's are "sunroof compatible?

5. Any other information and insights would be much appreciated!
 
It sounds like you're trying to install a sunroof on a car that didn't come with one and while it can be done it's probably way more work than it's worth to do it properly. The only way to do it correctly imo is to use the whole roof panel from the donor car by following the greenbook procedure for roof replacement. There's a nice rolled edge around the factory sunroof opening that strengthens the panel that'd be almost impossible to replicate if you just cut a hole in your existing roof.

My 244 Turbo ´84 had sunroof. My 164 didn´t so I took 144 roof with sunroof and welded it there. Another friend took roof from 244 Turbo and installed complete roof to 144.
 
My '92 244 had a crank sunroof.

This sort of sounds like a scenario of having two cars already - a good one you drive (the '87) and then a '93 parts car. And you want a sunroof but the 'good' car is a slicctop.

Any non-sunroof car can have a sunroof if you have enough saws-all blades.

any details on where you welded the sunroof containing entire roof on the former slick roof?

why not just cut out the hole for the sunroof on the slick roof? and possibly add support wrap around the opening?

which way would be stronger?

and what about the sunroof drain tube placement?

which years allow for sunroof drain tube placement in the same locations as the OEM sunroof equipped vehicles?

It’s easy on the p80s
You just have to replace the roof skin, ditch the sunroof mechanism, install headliner.

You get like 4 inches of clearance Inside the car


OP unless you got good body welding etc experience it’s going to be a really involved job. It’s just easier to get a car with a sunroof already in it

That’s a whole lot of work

ALL YEARS ARE THE SAME ON 240s

Just cut post about middle of it. My 164 roof was completely rotten so I took that 144 roof. It was only half rotten
