What turbo for 300bhp redbock

I'm looking for a turbo for 300hp I have a t3 ebay one fitted but there is very bad lag.
I have chipped ecu,cam fitted,steel rods,3 maf 3inch exhaust

What size is the T3 you have? I have a GTX3071 with T3 .63 housing and it starts building boost at about 2800 rpm with the Volvo A cam in a B230FT (not a +T).

OP… do you just want 300 or beyond ? Will close to 300 do? Honestly I’ve seen people get really close to that number with a 15g but it was at its limits... but hella fun on the way up there.... , for that matter the 16t, 19t, the old fashioned T3 60-63...t40e 40 trim with .63 housing are great options that will bolt up to the T3 flange. If you don't mind adapting, the mitsu 16g, evo 8 16g6, …. Plus a host of modern offerings.

What are the specs of your eBay turbo?

Plus is this going thru a stick or a slush box? If auto, you need a higher stall speed than the 2000rpm you get with the Volvo aw boxes. Even a tiny turbo thru a stock stall can feel laggy as hell.

The evo8/9 turbo is a total blast on a red block for a 300+HP turbo but does require a custom manifold.

A k24 will also get you there and kind of bolt up.

The GT options also work but can be a headache. My gr2871r has been a blast @25psi but I have had nothing but issues with fit and will be using an aftermarket manifold soon and ditching the 90+ with the added benefit of a power gain from that alone.

Ditching the 90+ will help almost all turbos make more power than they would on the crappy stock manifolds so take that into account when deciding on a turbo.

Then something like a 16/18T would be a nice matchup for a street car (250-300hp). Have the 18T myself and I quite like it's low end in comparison to 19T redblocks I've experienced.

If you keep the stock manifold and lines you can fit it with some simple clocking:

Also which cam did you go for, that can massively effect your low end, although from what I've understood the ebay t3/t4 builds boost around 3k on redblocks with a stock T cam.

Ive fitted a Classic swede cam
Opening Duration 280 degrees
cam lift 12.15mm
Lobe center line angle 112 degrees
TDC lifting about 2.5-2.7mm.

That is a big cam (KL racing T3), which partly would explain your lack of low end. Swapping to a smaller T/A or a bit more sporty V/IPD Turbo/ENEM V15 cam would allow you to regain it. These cams also suit the 16t/18t well.

Generally big cams work well with less restrictive gt30 turbo's, but limit power on more restrictive td04 turbo's due to cam overlap and exhaust back pressure effects. The td04 has a small hotside in comparison to your gt30, improving spool at the cost of your top end. Your current setup is probably the exact opposite of that, everything up top.

I have a b21ft with a t40e .63/.67. It's probably more than 300hp, but any t3 turbo will fit. I "machined" my 90 plus with an angle grinder. No issues yet.

I found a like new gtx2860 garrett for 800 euro what are all your opinions or would a ebay turbo be much of a different

Gtx2860 would be quicker spooling, and better quality than the Chinese turbo. But as mentioned is not as easy to adapt, and the cam will still put your powerband in the upper rpm. Also might be worth fitting a smaller turbine housing if it exists for the current setup, to help spool.

Given you ordered through classic swede, I'm guessing you are in the UK. Given you already have the lash caps setup for the kl regrinds, this one would be a direct swap and should gain you some low end grunt. Just a bit unclear what the specs are:
