Whatever_Racecar Endurance 745T

Awesome Stories.
Our Volvo team is discussing racing in California for 2025. One of our team mates lives in San Luis Obispo. We want to ship the car out there and try to make 1 or 2 of the races on the California series next year. Especially attractive to race in the winter when we need a vacation from heavy Colorado Snow.
Several of us want to do the HPR 24 hour race in September '25.

If you come to CA, happy to share spares with you.

So one of the interesting things a previous owner did with my car is replace the control arm and stay bushings that connect to the car with heim joints. I also did not realize until we were at Buttonwillow that there was no rubber/poly bushing where the control arm stay meets the control arm, instead it is aluminum.

Rear suspension was completely stock when I got it.

We raced 24 Hours of Lemons Sonoma last weekend. We had fun, but only placed 50th our of 134 and 24th in class. I believe we were the only Volvo powered Volvo on the track.

It was raining a lot on Saturday morning and at the end of the first drivers stint he said he had no brakes. Pulled into the garage and there was brake fluid all over the drivers rear wheel. Pulled the wheel and the caliper had lost both slide pins and ejected $100 worth of new brake pads.

We slapped a spare caliper on and some very worn pads on and sent the next driver out.

Second driver came in for a black flag. He had tried to pass a Kia? that closed the door on him, which caused him to hit that car and a Miata that was beside him. Rest of the day went by without incident. Only damage to our car was the front bumper. The Miata I bought a tie-rod for, and the Kia we bought a case of beer.

That night we put on some parts store pads in the rear, and replaced a cam seal. We were leaking a lot of oil from somewhere. After heating up the engine, the leaking seemed to have stopped or at least slowed considerably.

Second day we had contact three more times with other cars. It had been many races since we had any contact, so 4 hits in a weekend was a lot. Car was still leaking oil and we added about half a gallon of oil halfway through the day.

We took the checkered flag on Sunday.

This race was bittersweet, at the end of the race I sold the car to one of my drivers. He is a Volvo die hard. He has a LS 940 and a K-swap 245. He is going to continue to develop #745 and I am going to continue to race with him, but I am also going to build a new car.

There have been so many on Turbobricks that have helped me for the last 7 years, thank you for being one of the most helpful automotive forums.

Weighed the race Volvo yesterday. It was a lot lighter than I expected.

2653 lbs total. No driver, probably 3/4s tank of gas
LF 757 28.5% RF 652 24.6%
LR 654 24.7% RR 590 22.2%

Also weighed a stock 940 16v wagon, had some junk in the trunk, almost empty fuel 3221 lbs.
