Hi Folks,

Thought of doing a list of the B6 engine versions. I would like to have things like stroke, bore, cam specs, VVT and so forth and so on in the list. So far it's just the engine types, and only up to 05 (and UK version of Vadis) and what Volvo model. Vadis, is kind of brain dead when it comes to extracting this info, earlier models like V90/S90/960 simply don't list it under engine mech spec :(, later models do. Anyways this is a start:

B6294T: XC90 03-05, S80 02-05
B6294S2: S80 02-05
B6294S: S80 00-01
B6284T: S80 99-01
B6304S3: S80 99
B6244FS: S90 97-98, 960 95-97
B6254FS: S90 97-98, V90 97-98, 960 95-97
B6304FS: S90 97-98, V90 97-98, 960 91-97
B6304FS2: S90 97-98, V90 97-98
B6254GS : S90 97, V90 97, 960 95-97
B6304GS: S90 97, V90 97, 960 92-97

I know there must been changes in the specs of the engines even if they have the same Type name like e.g. the cam belt is changing so e.g. the B6304GS can't be exactly the same during 92-97.. Well well at least it's a bit of a start :) -- BTW: the B6294T is the big T6 engine and the B6284T is the smaller one....

Cheers Dyna

vin code reader tells you the type of engine .

capacity doesnt change with NA models 2.5/3.0 litre

the t6 is a different kettle of fish .

cam belt change due to a different tensioner and wider pulleys .

http://www.volvoclub.org.uk/vin_900.shtml

basically until it gets into the later stuff its all interchangeable .

Hmm, isn't e.g. the GS and the FS basically the same engine but the GS being for markets with leaded fuel. I'm also pretty convinced that the B6244 is a smaller 2.4 liter engine, for markets that wanted a six but not e.g. a road tax penalty of a larger 2.5 liter engine.

Anyways thanks for the link to the vin stuff, I mainly composed it to get my own head around differences.......

Cheers Dyna
