Has anyone tried fitting an 8HP in a 245? TurboLamik has a phenomenal TCU that gives you insane control. Just wondering if anyone has tried this for their brick.

Brick? Yes. 240, don't know. Randy Pobst's Flying Moose 740/760 Turbo race car is running an 8HP transmission now.Has anyone tried fitting an 8HP in a 245? TurboLamik has a phenomenal TCU that gives you insane control. Just wondering if anyone has tried this for their brick.
That is not at all how this works.8 Speed Why,
the engine will spend more time shifting to do what?
I'll put it against my Power Glide any day.
Google “zf 8hp turbolamic tcu” watch the videos, it’ll make sense. Incredible power and torque handling ability with the capability to have a fully automatic, simulated clutch manual, sequential, and paddle shifting transmission with launch control. It turns a race car into a street car simply by changing configuration on the fly. And they’re cheap, well the trans is, the tcu costs a decent penny.8 Speed Why,

I have a 8hp70 in my 245 and am installing one in my drag car as well. Maxxecu is by far the most cost effective way to go about controlling the engine and transmission. On my diesel wagon I have a 8hp mini and and in my drag car I have a Maxxecu race.Has anyone tried fitting an 8HP in a 245? TurboLamik has a phenomenal TCU that gives you insane control. Sweet. You'll have to post some videos of it in operation sometime soon. This is what I would go to for any 2/7/9 transmission swap. The 10R80 is known for some issues, that said, I love the one in my Mustang GT. 10 gears that will shift at full throttle keeping the engine right in its peak power range is something to experience. All the die hard manual transmission fans I race with are starting to get it. They can't compete with the DCT/automatic transmissions manufacturers are coming up with these days.I have a 8hp70 in my 245 and am installing one in my drag car as well. Because it keeps the engine right in the maximum power curve. Sorry, 2 gears ain't gonna cut it. Even if it does in your imagination, reality takes over in the real world.8 Speed Why,

Everything has its place, 8hp looks to be the future, and would love to see your wagon line up against something with an 8hp. Old vs new school babeyTop Fuel Dragster still use them.

MaxxECU includes native automatic (including DSG & 8HP) transmission support as part of all their ECUs, even the Mini.Just curious. Is there a MaxxECU that will run the trans and the motor? Or is it a 2 ECU situation?
It would be so easy to prove you wrong. Bring a small displacement, low torque, heavy car with a 2 speed transmission to any event whatsoever and watch what happens when it goes up against anything with 3 or more gears. It is a silly argument. Sure, 2,000-3,500 hp in a 2,000 pound car and it won't need more than 2 gears to run a quarter mile. That same transmission in a heavy vehicle trying to move major weight is a POS. I had a 1963 Chevrolet Carryall with a 300 hp 327 and Powerglide in it. It was terrible for towing. A 1.76:1 low gear doesn't work worth crap to get 10,000 lb moving on any sort of gradient. I'm betting you never drove a Toyota Corona with a 2 speed Toyoglide? What a terribly sluggish performing car.Top Fuel Dragster still use them.

I like drag racing but a top fuel dragster is about as much of a one trick pony as it gets.Top Fuel Dragster still use them.

No one is just enough. HP8 is CanBus controlled, so in practice Max ECU min is enough.Just curious. Is there a MaxxECU that will run the trans and the motor? Or is it a 2 ECU situation?
