Poik's ported 530

I just came back from a local pro where I took my partially 531 head for some opinions on what to do about the exhaust side. I was told to round off the short side radius as much as possible even to the point of rounding off some the bottom part of the seat. Sounds scary but this is a well respected shop. They build two cycle bikes and racing snowmobiles. They also have a dyno and a flow bench.

That doesn't sound right. You need that short side radius to get even flow through the bowl don't you?

Yeah like James said, the stock casting already has discrepancies between the ports, especially in the bowls. The pictures don't do it justice, to really know how the ports turned out you would just have to use your finger, that's where the huge difference over stock can be easily determined. On the short side radius i just lightly sanded the sharp edges so that now it's a smooth sharp angle instead of a sharp sharp angle :)

Any metal left between the coolant passages and the top of the exhaust runners?

Just because something looks pretty doesn't it mean it actually will act pretty. But I'm not saying that it won't act pretty either...

Yeah there is some left. There are a few small holes here and there, but I don't think I will have to worry about them, as when I'm in boost the pressure shouldn't let any water in, and I plan to be in boost most of the time.

Hahah, try the Copex TM anti-lag system. That ought to keep you in boost.

Looks really good. Not going to groove it or weld a bead in? Get some dyno results and do them for profit.

Well I was planning on getting it all running this weekend in the amount of time after I got home from working, but a few parts from FCP didn't come, and I didn't want to work outside in the snow. I'm just going to wait 2 weeks until finals are over.

Tbrickers wouldn't pay for the head work to make any sort of profit lol. At my own hourly rate plus supplies it would be over $300, and I'd rather work my job that isn't filthy! It looks like RSI has a ported head with big valves for cheap, I don't know how they do it.
