SquareD's slow and steady 945 tarbo project

Sold at $15,500. I think it would have made it but a couple of people commented they couldn't bid in the last moments.
I had a mental guesstimate of $16K, and you essentially achieved that. Nice work! I can't recall a 9 series bringing more, so you are the current record holder (AFAIK).

I did bid what would have been a great price, and was higher bidder for 1 minute at 13k haha. Sat at $12k for quite awhile, figured action would pick up at the end. Was hard not to go higher, but it was certainly well worth what it sold for, especially considering all the extra parts. I'm sure buyer is going to enjoy the heck out of it. I know how much I have into mine already, bringing back/upgrading a 93 940 turbo wagon from the dead and its nice, but not nearly as nice all around as yours, and I liked your color better as well. I'm sure I'll have that in it when I'm done, and will be like damn...should have just paid the money, bought yours and sold mine. Anyways congrats on the sale!

Thanks everyone! The new owner will be coming tomorrow to pick the car up. I started pulling all my extra parts and spares out of the basement and staging them in the garage, and I gotta admit... it's kinda surreal. Going through my parts bins and I have stuff dating back to my old 744T and even some past that; misc 240 parts from my dad that he collected in the 80s. We've been known as a Volvo family for the past 40 years and that era will be over as both my father and I have moved on from Volvos. Man, I wish I would have finished the M90 swap, but sometimes life just gets in the way and priorities change.

I know the new owner will be really happy with the car. As good as it looks, it really does drive out as good or even better. They're getting one of the best 940s left in the country, for sure.

Well, the car is gone and sent home with the new owners. I was told by the husband who came to get it, that basically his wife was looking for a "pretty 80s/90s Volvo" to daily drive. I got a strong feeling that even though everything was spelled out very clearly in the auction and chat on BaT, they really didn't understand how modified the car is or what all had been done to it. It seemed pretty clear that she was ideally looking for a sorted, driver quality, cute and quirky 240 and ended up buying my car. I'm sure her reading about how great of an an example my car is got her swept up into the auction.

Their other car is a 2015 Civic and they'll find out relatively quickly that this is not like that. Someone might be able to scoop it up in the next couple years for a decent price, he was already telling me that it's probably not going to be a "forever car" for them. Oh well, it is what it is.

I foresee a request to the husband to turn the turbo down a little.

And a sale of the M90 setup happening soon.

Problem is, you can't just turn a knob and set the EBC to XX psi, you have to set gate pressure, duty cycle on the solenoid, etc. They don't even know what any of that is, they probably barely even know what a turbo psi is.

Heh, when I bought my Miata the seller was relieved to find out I was familiar with Megasquirt.

I just hope they take good care of "your" 940 until they're ready to move on.

Not mine anymore. He said he'd call me first if they decide to sell it, but I highly doubt I'll want it back. I'm done with Volvos for a while and I'd imagine there will be a noticeable difference in the condition of it from how it left my possession, even if it's only in a year or two.

:edit: I don't regret selling it, I'm just frustrated it didn't end up in the hands of an actual enthusiast that understood what it takes to maintain and operate a car like that. They seem like really nice folks, so I genuinely wish them well.

Its gone, no need to worry. If it went to enthusiasts, it'd be on jack stands by now. Just because someone is an enthusiast doesn't mean they know how to take care of car. It isn't so modified that someone wouldn't figure it out at some point. You didn't even put a lot of miles on it in your ownership. Volvos are meant to be driven, not sitting around. I hope they use the car and get a lot of enjoyment out of it.
