Where's the computer in these cars?

After just getting hit on the left rear quarter panel, the check engine light comes on and stays on for the 5-mile ride home. After shutting off the engine, the fan refuses to go off. So I pulled the fuse. I'm worried that the (apparently minor) dent is not so minor.

Anyone knows what could be causing this?

It's normal for the fan to stay on, for a while. If it's hot or you've run the car hard it will stay on for sometimes as long as ten or so minutes. If it never shuts off thats another story. Is the gas cap on the left side? If it goofed your cap, you know made it not seal completely, it could have turned your light on. Thats a trip to the dealer for that one though.

Yeah, my cousin's really pissed off about this. The person who hit the car left a note, but we've only left a message so far. The gas cap is on the left (damaged) side, but it looks okay. I'm going to put the fuse back in now and see what happens.

ya, you'll defeintly want to keep that fuse in.

Odds are, when it hit it shook the cap loose and it wont take much, but that turned on the check engine light. Thats the biggest pita thing in the world!
