1991 740 pickup LR4 V8/4L60e Swap

All the cam install parts and required tools are now here. I've fixed the space heater in the garage, and made a little more space by sectioning a bench that was much deeper than needed to give me a little more work space without getting too close to the X!/9.. Hopefully I can move forward with the motor work while the weather is too nasty to be outside.

In December I added a platform with an awning on the back of the garage, to use for storing heavy equipment that doesn' really need to occupy precious space inside.

My plan was to work on adding a real addition to the garage, but after meeting with one of the town building inspectors, my lot, which dates from the 1890's, is already non-conforming in so many areas that I will never get an extension to the existing structure approved. What I can do without a permit is build a 'patio' - so I will be making a 16x18 or 16x 20' slab back here, to allow me to work on car projects without juggling cars in the driveway so much. Just has to be staggered 10' in from the property line at the side & back. I like working outside, so it's not the end of the world.

I decided to enclose the platform, as that will give me an extra 4' at the back of the garage, which makes a world of difference in terms of simply being able to get the Datsun or the Pickup truck inside for work in weather like this

Started framing the platform yesterday.

Cleared the back wall of the garage of the shelving & workbenches. I'll be removing about 13' of the inside wall, so I'll be building a temporary wall to support the beam & upper wall whilst I open it up.

The existing header is not exactly healthy construction

One of the P80 calipers I had put on last year in prep for the V8 conversion seized on me - the rotor was quite blue . I had to rebuild the caliper as I had modded the 'clamp' section to clear the 15" Volvo wheels I use for snows. I got a complete kit with new piston off RockAuto. Doesn't seem to be any pulsation from the left front after the rebuild, so I don't think I'll bother changing the rotor out.

Have you looked into doing the rears yet? I keep thinking I want to put p80 rear calipers on but there are so many other things to do.

Missed your post back in Feb. I didn't know the P80 rears fit - haven't looked into it. Back when I had my 98, I recall updating the rear calipers & (vented) rotors, but I don't recall what the updated (larger or vented) setup came from, maybe the 2000 R (?)....

yep the R rears are vented, since I'm going to be going to an 8.8 rear end and doing some things at the advice of a few others in the v8 group I might be going to a different aftermarket but I haven't gotten to that stage of research yet.
