O my '91 240, I have a motor mount that contacts with the oil filter. this makes changing the oil more difficult than it needs to be. Is there a location on the motor that I could jack up enough to get the oil filter off? I was thinking that I could jack it up on the oil pan, but I am not sure that the pan would be strong enough/don't want to risk it.

For just that you will be fine just spread the force out with a piece of wood between the pan and jack. If you just need a few inches of lift there is not much weight to move.

If the mount is touching the filter, one or both of the mounts are broken and need to be replaced immediately before driving any further.

best way is to lift the engine from above - make an A-frame from 2x6 and put a long bolt through the middle, use the bolt to raise the engine.

Do not hesitate. When u do change the filter the new on will rest on the mount and could be damaged. Listen to the people here u need to replace that mount. It is not worth the headache, if the filter hits the mount brace it will rip open and spill out all of your oil:lol:. Then u will need a rebuild or a new motor. Don't skimp on the important stuff.

Well, I guess it won't take me too long, beings that I was under there today scoping it all out.

I used ratchet straps rigged off my attic entry point to lift up from the engine hoist points.

I sheared both mounts at an autocross. The motor twisted this much:

I carefully jacked up the engine at the pan with a board between the jack and the pan, and w/o jacking up directly on the drain plug. It worked fine. The bell housing/block works OK too.
