1992 240...

First off, just found the forum and gave me even more love for my 240.

So i have a 1992 240. Its not a turbo, if they were even made that year. I'm wondering is there really any upgrades to be done to it performance wise? It runs good, its just really not the quickest. So is there any real upgrades that can be done to help my old car's engine out? Or is it need of a whole new engine transfer to do what i want it to do?

You can do some good basic upgrades like a cam, exhaust, and chips to get a nice boost in power with your car. If you are going to go for more power than that, though. A turbo is a great way to go since Volvo already did the work of making the parts to fit it up to the engine. We call that a +T.

I'd vote turbo, can still be smog legal, can be done in a weekend as long as nothing too major breaks (always have issues with exhaust studs) ..... and can be done in the $200 to $500 range depending on luck and how resourceful you are

start by reading the 4th and 5th "sticky" threads on this page

also if you go to the main Home page, read a few of Featured cars articles, a few are cars that had been converted to turbo similar to yours

just find a turbo car for like $300, buy it, then park it in your driveway, then get everything you need from it, and do your +T that is what I wished I had done.

yes, except you'll need the ECU and EZK from an '89 or newer version (fuel and ignition computers)
