Kind of an odd question, but what's the biggest full size spare anyone has fit in the spare tire well of a 240 wagon while being able to use the cover?

Planning on adding a full size spare mounted on a Virgo.

Thanks

If it doesn't come up on the proper tab, on the left side where you enter the tire size click on "Tire size comparison" tab. Enter your current wheel/tire combo and then you can play with different sized rim and tires to see how you can get the thinnest width, but same size diameter tire to put in the spare well.

I have a 205-60-15 on a 740 steelie in my wagon spare tire well. It's a heavy wheel and tire combo that I eventually will replace with a 195-60-15 on a Virgo.

a 185/75r14 fits, I think 195/65r15 fits but I can't quite remember. I think the ultimate spare setup is a 14" tire on a early 242 GT wheel. It's a very light setup.

I would assume its mostly a width restriction since the 240 wagon came with fairly tall tires.

Been thinking about replacing my factory spare that no longer holds air with a 195/70/14 on a corona wheel. Seems like it should fit given the replies.

That's my tire size and it fits with room to spare. I have factory steelies though not alloys.
